Finding inspiration in flea markets, Pyramids

ANGELA Panozzo is a Chinese-Italian interior designer based in Los Angeles. Her cultural background has influenced her designs, her interest in art and decor, and brought her an international clientele, from Italy to China. Her projects in China have featured in the Louis Vuitton City Guide: Shanghai, and other lifestyle magazines.

With her passion for furniture, textiles, and craftsmanship, Angela takes inspiration from her travels, from visits to museums to the little finds at flea markets and antique stores, from music to fashion. Angela is a creative who believes in the power of beautiful interiors to transform one’s experience in his/her daily life.

My personal style is mixing patterns, prints, and colors, but at the same time I like simplicity and comfort. So I would say being an interior designer that my creative style projects onto my personal wardrobe as well.

The best outfit I’ve ever worn for a special occasion was an off the shoulder white shirt with ruffled sleeves under a little sleeveless black dress (both from Zheng Weili). I matched the outfit with a pair of glittery ankle boots and a black pouch, and completed it with an oversized wool coat.

I follow the fashion trends through my mother, who is one of my greatest fashion influences. She is an established designer based in Italy. But I also rely on friends and social media.

I usually shop for accessories at thrift stores and flea markets. For the clothes, I’m grateful and lucky to be the daughter of fashion designer Zheng Weili and I love all of her collections and every season I have a change of wardrobe.

If I have to limit my shopping to one neighborhood in Shanghai, it would definitely be the former French Concession. There are lots of new trendy stores.

The designer I most admire is definitely my mother, Zheng Weili. To know how she managed to create her own brand step-by-step, and to have been there to witness it, it has been really inspirational.

The style icon I look up to is Iris Apfel, both for her interior design and her fashion sensibility. She’s always fearless and bold with her loud and colorful clothing and accessories, and she’s still rocking at the age of 95!

The last item I added to my wardrobe was a custom silver leather jacket made by my friend, Michel Berandi.

The fashion item I’m eyeing next is a nice pair of sandals to wear during this summer. Whenever I go back home to Italy, I always try to pick a pair of handmade leather or suede sandals.

I collect hats, sunglasses and rings.

My grooming staples are using hydrating moisturizers and toners. I’m currently using Water Drop by Dr. Jart+ and Raw Sauce by May Coop.

My signature perfumes are Alien by Mugler. It has been gifted to me a few years ago and it’s been with me ever since.

The best souvenir I brought home is always a handmade textile that is typical of a culture or a place, so whenever there is a chance, I try to buy textiles to make home accessories and to decorate my living space. My closest friends know this little weakness of mine, so, so far they have brought me textiles from Morocco, Mexico, Guatemala and India.

The most memorable place I’ve traveled was Egypt with my family. That was life-changing. The ancient culture and the pyramids are so fascinating.

The last book I’ve read was “Confession of a Coward” by Charles Bukowski.

Except LA, I would like to live a couple of years in Shanghai. I have family here. aI love the adrenaline. It’s a melting pot.

Giacomo Nee is the co-founder of fashion label Bucobianco. He grew up from an artistic family surrounded by paintings and sculptures, graduated in Design from Milan Politecnico in 2012 and started collaborations with the art and fashion worlds. Together with Barbara Branciforti, he started the Bucobianco clothing line featuring unique designs, with which they want to create true works of wearable art.

My personal style is simple and powerful. I love to wear the colorful pieces we design. But when it’s creation time I dress in black!

The best outfit I’ve ever worn for a special occasion was always Bucobianco. It makes me feel very precious.

I follow fashion trends by the imagined world. Our work is inspired by our art. Of course we all are influenced by the moment. For that reason, we like to think we filter this world’s inputs through our imagined world.

I don’t usually shop for clothes since we launched our own brand.

My favorite brand is definitely my own Bucobianco. It’s wonderful to express our ideas in fashion, to be able to define ourselves as much as possible.

The style icons I look up to are the ones we find in our dreams.

The last item I added to my wardrobe was a huge suitcase to come to Shanghai during the recent Shanghai Fashion Week.

The fashion item I’m eying next is some special handmade prints for next Spring Summer Collection of Bucobianco.

I collect plants. I love to take care of our vegetable garden at home.

My signature perfume is Velvet desert oud by Dolce & Gabbana.

The best souvenir I brought home was the memory of a very fascinating culture.

The most memorable place I have traveled in the past was Lappland and, where I saw the aurora borealis.

The last book I’ve read was “Shocking life” by Elsa Schiapparelli, her beautiful autobiography.

Except Milano, the city I would love to live in is anywhere in nature.
