TO promote environmental protection and raise the awareness of the general public, a special exhibition is underway at the Shanghai World Financial Center featuring two large installation pieces.
"Echo" by Jiang Feimo contains two rows of empty birdcages with various nests, grass and broken tree branches. As the artist says, he tries to warn people of the deteriorating environment, which has caused extinction of thousands of species, especially in the recent 20 years.
"Mother Nature can always meet our needs, but never our selfishness and greed," Jiang adds. "We should always keep in mind that vanishing stays much longer than existence."
Zhu Jingyi and Xiong Chao's "Riding for a Green World" is an interactive installation where visitors can ride bikes to lower the water level in a tank to "save" the plant within. It aims to send the message of "less fuel, better environment."
Date: Through May 10
Address: 100 Century Ave, Pudong
