New restaurant: Grains
On the tranquil and trendy Wukang Road in the former French concession, a new streetside coffee shop Grains is attracting a crowd with its artisanal coffee, pastries and fresh gelato.
The cozy coffee shop has two long tables with one facing the street. The half-open design gives the place a very welcoming feeling.
The small ice cream window called WIYE opened right next door selling delicious gelato served with hot and fresh waffle cones. Right now, there are four flavors to choose from, a cone with two scoops of ice cream priced 30 yuan (US$4.8).
The dark chocolate & almonds is a must-try. The dense and creamy chocolate ice cream has crunchy pralines and roasted almonds for extra layer of texture. And the raspberry & balsamic sorbet adds a refreshing flavor to the sweet ice cream cones.
If you are only buying the gelato and don’t have cash in hand, you can pay at the coffee shop next door for an ice cream ticket.
