On the scent of a satisfying coffee

MOST people agree there's nothing like a good basic cup of coffee, but what makes a good one depends on the type of bean or blend, the water used and the method - filter, plunger or coffee maker.

Whatever the method, you have to start with beans. It's best to grind your own, but not everyone has the time.

Of course, there are plenty of easier coffee options on offer on the market, whether pure, blended, instant, with creamer, and even varieties with added herbs. Here's a selection.

1. Grandos Classico (instant)
Its aroma is strong and compelling. The first sip may taste slightly sweet but the second leads to a stronger, slightly bitter taste that lingers delightfully on the palate afterwards.
