'Shake and Bubbles' all year long
COCKTAILS featuring Chinese oolong and jasmine tea, oysters baked with Maotai, Chinese wine distilled from sorghum, and a series of Chinese inspired foods showcase how the Marriott hotel group interprets Shanghai culture.
The "Farewell to the Dragon" party was held at Renaissance Shanghai Zhongshan Park last month as the first event for "Shake and Bubbles," a monthly party that will be held for the rest of the year. The event was organized by Marriott hotel group to improve awareness of the brand among Chinese.
Each party will have a different theme and will be held in 12 Shanghai hotels managed by Marriott group. Participating hotels include JW Marriott, Marriott, Renaissance, Courtyard and Ritz-Carlton.
"The themes will be designed according to the season and the facilities. For example, there will be a pool party held at the pool terrace, JW Marriott," says Uwe Guemmer, the general manager at Courtyard by Marriott Shanghai-Pudong, also the organizer and co-founder of Shake and Bubbles. "We invite Marriott Rewards Members, our loyal customers dominated by local Shanghainese, to the party to express our thanks." Jurgen Sterkau, general manager at Renaissance Shanghai Yangtze Hotel, is co-founder of the monthly event and says the parties will show customers the hotel is not just for business travelers.
"The parties will strengthen the brand image of Marriott group, showing customers the brand does not just cater to various business requirements, but also brings customers a relaxed living experience with entertainment. That's why the event is named Shake and Bubbles, which stays for shacked cocktails and bubbles in beverages like soda water and sparkling wines," Sterkau says.
Hector Pliego, director of food and beverage at Renaissance Shanghai Zhongshan Park, says: "Now is the time to say goodbye to the Chinese dragon year so the first party featured cocktails and food to showcase Chinese culture."
Four Chinese inspired cocktails were launched at the first party.
The next Shake and Bubbles party will be at Renaissance Shanghai Caohejing Hotel with the theme "Chefs in the Bar." Marriott Rewards Members are welcome.
