Starbucks serving up fresh new flavors for spring

IN honor of spring, Starbucks is offering a floral coffee experience enchanted by fragrant beans and exuberant sakura blossoms.

Holding a cup of coffee and strolling around the Starbucks Reserve® shop at Sinan Masion in Shanghai which is now decorated in towering sakura flowers, the familiar coffee experience suddenly becomes more romantic and spring-like.

This season’s limited Starbucks Reserve® coffee menu highlights the Guatemala Flor del Rosario. Flor, which is Spanish word for flower, is utterly appropriate for the season.

The gentle and heartwarming coffee is grown by Horst Spitzke, a 78-year-old German native who settled down in Guatemala after years of travelling throughout Latin America.

In 1988, Spitzke purchased the Flor del Rosario farm after experimenting with different plant crops and decided coffee was the perfect match for him and his land. The 550-hectare (1,400 acres) farm also celebrates the biodiversity of the region and is home to natural wonders of flora and fauna.

The Flor del Rosario is a special cup that reflects Spitzke’s journey and passion. Knowing all his coffee pickers by name, Spitzke is proud of his workers and cares deeply about providing jobs for the locals in his region.

Two new limited edition drinks are also served in all Starbucks shops this spring: the Tahitian vanilla flavored macchiato, a blooming new creation; and burnt caramel macchiato, a returning favorite.

The spring’s special food menu is also inspired by the flowers of spring with a Japanese flair.

The triple-layered sea salt matcha cheese cake is a seasonal twist on the classic New York cheesecake, balancing creamy and rich cheese with a subtle hint of saltiness to accompany the spring’s floral roast and sweet macchiatos.

On the lighter side, there’s the matcha mousse cake shaped like a tender leaf and a Japanese cake pudding trio in the flavors of matcha, strawberry and vanilla also accentuates the freshness and usefulness of spring.

If you want to capture the best time of the year with your loved ones, family or friends, the combination of freshly brewed coffee and spring-themed desert by Starbucks is a perfect choice.

No worries if you missed the sakura themed merchandise like cups, mugs, umbrella and journals in stores; Starbucks will soon launch the new Starbucks x Paul & Joe series in collaboration with the charming French cosmetics brand that’s famous for blending floral, butterfly and kitten designs in its products.
