Sweet treats at Cova Caffé

SINCE Cova Caffé opened its doors in 1817 in Milan nearly 200 years ago, it has become the city's most reputable cafe, attracting affluent and celebrity guests alike.

Last week Cova opened two cafes in Shanghai - one in Shanghai International Finance Centre and the other in Xintiandi.

Both cafes are beautifully designed and highlighted with soft beige and brown tones to complement the Italian furniture and crystal lamp.

Cova's coffee is the result of careful selection of beans from the finest plantations in Central America and Brazil.

"Seven different types of arabica beans are selected to make for a truly special blend. Our beans are air-cooled, not by water, so that the coffee does not gain weight or contain moisture," says managing director Daniela Faccioli.

The Cappuccino Coffee Cake (138 yuan) is the most renowned in the world.

The Sacher Cake (138 yuan) is produced with a selection of cocoa from South America.
