Kerry Hotel Pudong creates unique MICE setting

WHILE corporate meetings are seldom expected to generate exciting memories, it doesn’t mean they should be stereotyped or involve no fun at all.

For meeting planners who desire to add some flavor to the routinely formal, if not dull, experiences, their success could sometimes just depend on two of their very first decisions: where to go and whom to work with to implement the plan.

And Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai, seems to be one of the options that will meet, or even exceed, your expectations, with its almost second-to-none hardware facilities and extremely professional and dedicated teams.

Located in the heart of Pudong New Area and close to the Shanghai New International Expo Center, the luxury five-star property, a member of the Shangri-La family, simply made a splash in the local hospitality scene with its more than 8,500 square meters of dedicated meeting and banqueting space.

Consisting of 26 multi-purpose function rooms and two ballrooms in total, the hotel still boasts the largest and most flexible mix of such amenities in Shanghai, more than four and a half years after its official opening.

Besides unparalleled indoor space, the hotel is also proud of what it could offer for customers seeking more refreshing alternatives.

A 195-square-meter Balcony Garden on Level 3 overlooking the vibrant courtyard of the Kerry Parkside complex is ideal for relaxing while a 700-square-meter Rooftop Garden on Level 5 providing lush views of the Century Park, one of the city’s largest “Green Lungs,” is another perfect venue to arrange dinners or other activities. For instance, within just a few hours, the Dome, an inflatable structure with a capacity to accommodate up to 250 people, can be set up there, creating totally different ambiance for guests.

Gorgeous ballrooms, one of them being the largest of its kind among five-star hotels in Shanghai at 2,230 square meters and without a single pillar, as well as state-of-the-art function rooms at various sizes and adaptable to almost all occasions, are certainly not all that Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai, gets to impress us.

Covering 6,000 square meters over three floors, Kerry Sports is the city’s largest sports club which includes a 24-hour fitness center, studios for yoga, aerobics, spinning, Pilates, an indoor swimming pool, outdoor tennis and basketball courts, and a wellness day spa and the Adventure Zone, an indoor playground mostly for children but also surprisingly popular among some international MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) groups.

The hotel’s strong food and beverage team, the exact reason behind its three very busy restaurants — The COOK, The MEET and The BREW — are also well versed at offering outside catering services, be it at the adjacent Expo Center and the Century Park, or further in Pudong at the science and technology museum and even the Oriental Pearl Tower.

And earlier this year, the hotel also launched several new theme breaks during which live cooking concept is introduced to promote interaction with conference and meeting participants in an fun-engaging and vibrant environment.

And the hotel’s effort is never spared. In fact, MICE business at Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai, has been maintaining a double-digit growth steadily over the past few years. In 2015, the segment has registered outstanding performance with notable increases in international corporate meetings, a timely and perfect makeup for comparatively flat expo-related business as the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai), a newer and larger one, opened earlier in the western Hongqiao area.
