Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai
Designed in line with Mandarin Oriental’s vision and the hotel’s resort-like setting in a city-center location, the front-of-house staff uniform features a subtle look, interpreted in red and shiny colors. The front-of-house collection ranges from doorman, concierge, lobby reception, guest relations to Club Lounge; and comprises red jackets, white silk scarfs and Chinese qipao-cut skirts for female staff with red tunic-suit-like jackets and black trousers for male staff. The underlying theme with all the uniforms is apron-like garments that fit in with the look and feel of each outlet. All dining outlets are known for authenticity and the creation of signature products — similar to how an artist creates art. So what do artists, chefs and brewers have in common? They wear a coverall or apron to cover their clothes. The COOK’s uniform is a simple white or black shirt, with a denim apron, pinafore and jeans combo. In line with the casual atmosphere of the restaurant, denim was chosen to reflect the easy-going and vibrant vibe.
Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund
