Your best friend's home - Andaz Shanghai
WHEN we're away from home, where do we feel most relaxed?" asks Andaz Shanghai's General Manager, Wilson Lee. "Probably at the home of family or your best friend."
The first Andaz property in Asia Pacific, the hotel at Xintiandi aims to offer a similarly "personal, uncomplicated and vibrant" experience.
Andaz Shanghai features 307 spacious guest rooms and suites. All guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and local calls, nonalcoholic drinks and snacks from the mini bar. The host desk also provides coffee, drinks and light snacks and there is an evening wine service.
For meetings and events, Andaz Shanghai offers 11 venues; from the Meeting Studio that can seat 14-16 guests up to the Ballroom catering for up to 330 in banquet style.
This year, the hotel was awarded a place on Condé Nast Traveler's 2012 Best New Hotels "Hot List," Travel+ Leisure's The Best New Hotels 2012 "IT List" and "The Five Most High-tech Hotels in Shanghai" by Forbes Travel Guide.
And recently, Andaz Shanghai has been listed in "The Luxe List" by Destin Asian magazine and named "China's Best Designed Hotel" by Travel+ magazine.
"These are momentous awards for Andaz Shanghai and a success for the management team and hotel employees," says Lee. "We are delighted that the hotel achieved these in its first year.
"By the end of this year, we plan to open premier guest rooms, including Attics, Lofts, Extra Large Suites and a Penthouse," says Lee.
The residential-style Andaz Garden Studio will open on Level 5, featuring four event rooms and the spectacular Glass Pavilion surrounded by water - an ideal "wedding chapel" or red carpet event space - and two organically shaped outdoor terraces.
"From the Glass Pavilion, a glass lift will descend directly into the Ballroom, creating a dramatic entrance for a VIP or wedding couple," adds Lee.
