Foreigners must meet strict rules for residency
FOREIGNERS who apply for permanent residence in China have to be healthy, obey Chinese laws and regulations and have no crime records.
At the same time, they should meet one of the requirements below:
• One who directly invests in China for three successive years with good operation and tax record.
• One who is appointed as deputy director, deputy general manager, associate professor or associate researcher or above for at least four years. Within the four years, he/she stays in China for at least three years with good tax record.
• One who makes great contribution to China or the country is in serious need of.
• The spouses and unmarried children under 18 years old of those who meet the requirements 1, 2 and 3.
• One who gets married to his/her Chinese spouse or foreign spouse with permanent residence permit in China for at least five years and stays in China for at least nine months every year with a stable income and a place to live.
• Children, unmarried and under 18 years old, join their parents in China.
• One who is over 60 years old without any immediate family overseas and stay in China for five years (at least nine months in China every year) with a stable income and a place to live.
