The price of love

More than 80 percent of women surveyed expect their partner’s salaries to be twice theirs. Conversely, barely 1 percent of men are prepared to accept their wife earning twice what they do.

Views on younger husbands

About 16.5 percent of participants were comfortable with marriages in which the husband is a few years younger than the wife. More than 9 percent of women would accept their husbands to be up to five years younger, while just over 6 percent of women would accept being more than 5 years older than their husbands. Among men, being up to five years younger than the wife was acceptable to just under 9 percent of males, while under 3 percent would accept being 10 years younger than their wife.

What to look for in a mate

Women with confidence are most attractive to single males, the study found. For women, a man who cares a lot about his family seems adorable to them. More than 65 percent of participants of both sexes expect their spouses to be straight-up and frank. Also, the ability to cook is a vital consideration to both males and females when they look for a partner.
