Chemistry's right for foreign scientists
A British scientist studying mushroom genetics, a Canadian suicide prevention health expert, a French hematologist and a German bio mathematician are among the thousands of foreign experts helping to make China a better place and its people healthier, happier and more productive.
Earlier this year the China International Scientific Cooperation Prize for 2011 was awarded to eight expats, including Briton John Buswell, Frenchman Hugues de The and German Andreas Dress, all working in Shanghai.
Canadian Michael Phillips, who has lived in China for 27 years, was honored with the Shanghai Science and Technology Award for International Cooperation. He is chief editor of China's first bilingual psychiatry journal, the Shanghai Archives of Psychiatry.
Shanghai Daily interviewed the four experts about their contributions to China and world science and the bonds they have formed with China.
