Rings' princess Tyler cuts new style in Shanghai

MOST Chinese people got to know Liv Tyler, the beautiful Hollywood star, through her role as the elf princess Arwen in the hit movie series "The Lord of The Rings."
When the actress appeared in Shanghai recently for the launch of a limited denim collection she had designed, crowds turned out to take a close look at the princess. Wearing a casual, somehow tomboyish jumpsuit, she looked cool and edgy instead of being soft and feminine as most people expected. On her first trip to China, Tyler took a short visit around the city in three days and was deeply impressed by the World Expo pavilions. "I will come back," she said.
Daughter of Aerosmith's lead singer, Steven Tyler, and model/singer Bebe Buell, Tyler, 33, started acting as a teenager and is currently working on two films, "Super" and "Max Rose."
Q: It is your first visit to both Shanghai and China. What did you expect to see and what are your impressions having toured around the city?
A: Shanghai is an amazing city, very modern and futuristic. I'm so happy to be here. We only got to spend a few hours at the Expo site but I was impressed by the pavilions I saw. It's a pity that I only have three days in Shanghai and unfortunately there's no time for me to visit other cities in China. I do hope to come back to China soon.
Q: Most Chinese people got to know you as the elf princess Arwen in "The Lord of the Rings." You dressed up very feminine and elegantly in that movie. So what is your personal dressing style?
A: I tend to dress feminine. I love wearing tights, combined with a dress or shorts. I love wearing denims too, and lace tops. I have a G-Star denim shirt that I match with everything. In my everyday life I like to be comfortable. I would wear Converse or flats every day, or little dresses or jeans. I am very simple but then I almost go into a character when I get dressed up. I enjoy or try to embrace my womanly body a little bit more. I'm not a fashion victim. I have a Marc Jacobs bag which I have carried for over six years and I'm still not bored by it.
Q: Could you tell us more about the limited-edition Low-T denim collection you worked on?
A: It has been a great experience. They gave me a look that I don't usually have; more "tough" I would say ... and I loved it.
Q: What is your relationship with fame?
A: I don't have that figured out yet, I just go with the flow. It has always been my job, so I do not know anything else. I guess I saw a lot of things happen to my parents and to people I grew up around. I've seen a lot of people going through the glory and the failure, and the highs and the lows of it all, so that gave me a different kind of perspective. And I try as much as possible for the two worlds of me and my family and my work to not collide all the time.
Q: Do you consider yourself a beauty? What kind of women do you think are most beautiful? And what is your favorite part of your body.
A: I admire all women, especially brave women. My favorite part of my body? I would say my hands.
Q: What projects are you currently involved with?
A: I have been working on two films this year.?One of them is "Super," in which I play a drug dealer. The moment I read about it I wanted to be part of it. It is a great movie which is both exciting and touching.
