Jewelry tells of style, heritage

Hundreds of pieces of landmark works from the Cartier Collection are showcased at the exhibition “A Story of Style and Heritage” at the Liaoning Provincial Museum until October 27. The first section, “Evolution of a Style,” presents over 100 essential Western jewelry pieces of which the most significant is from the Cartier Collection from the era of classicism and the garland style, to the Art Deco period, the romantic naturalist style, to the eclectic fusion of styles from world civilizations.

The second section focuses on “Chinese Inspiration,” combining over 200 precious artworks from the Cartier Collection and Liaoning Provincial Museum. The third section, “Precious Objects,” features over 100 pieces expressing the tasteful lifestyle and the fascination with aesthetics and art throughout European history.

Among the displayed objects, the iconic pieces from Liaoning Provincial Museum collections include a white jade twin phoenix pendant and a hat box with a mother-of-pearl-inlaid pattern. Visitors will be stunned by the Cartier collection, especially objects inspired by Chinese culture, including the inkwell, desk clock with minute repeater, and the belt made between 1927 and 1930.
