Leather set to shine this winter
Leather is big this fall/winter season, with different styles seen from the runway shows of Hermes, Gvenchy, Versace, Alexander Wang, Jil Sander and Ann Demeulemeester.
And black leather is without a doubt the must-have this fall, for both women and men.
Versace leather looks give a sexy rock vibe with leather, velvet and rich satin bound together with silver chains and metal mesh. A strong femininity with a parallel glamor defines this season, utterly seductive and persuasive in its tone.
Riccardo Tisci, artistic director of Givenchy, creates an intensely sexual collection showcasing an aggressive femininity with a twist of fetishism. Accessories like the super-long black gloves are extremely sexy.
American Taiwan designer Alexander Wang's style continues to evolve, and creates a bold silhouette this season based on architectural shapes. The grooved leather toggle coat is sure to be a hit.
Ann Demeulemeester's fall/winter collection is all about the gothic maiden. Although Demeulemeester has focused on a virtually all-black color palette, dig a little deeper, the collection still had a vigorous but graceful feminine undertone with artfully-draped separates and precisely-tailored jackets.
Black leather is also evident in men's collections and Jil Sander collection for men is worth to check. Leather coats take a prominent role. Oversized and partially belted, they're worn over suits.
Although black is a dominant color in leather trends this season, other tones have not been neglected by fashion houses.
Hermes artistic director Christophe Lemaire has designed a collection for traveling women featuring stunning leather looks in different shades of brown, drawing on the house's long history with the material.
