Corinthia Hotel offers convenience and luxury

CORINTHIA Hotel London defines what a heritage hotel in the British capital can be — classy and posh, traditional yet contemporary.

Renovated from a 1855 Victorian-style government building, the hotel combines the original look with state-of-the-art luxury.

Apart from its convenient location, quality service and facilities, the hotel is also renowned for its seven penthouses that have accommodated numerous celebrities over the years.

The Explorer’s Penthouse features an adventure theme. Shelves covering an entire wall feature a vast number of travel books and decorative ornaments. The chandelier in the foyer is said to be inspired by the mechanical model of the solar system.

Guests can control all the lighting, curtains and entertainment devices in the room on an iPad.

The living room features a nice view of Trafalgar Square.

The penthouse’s fireplaces are another nice touch — one in the living room and another in the bedroom upstairs. It’s tough to beat a drink or reading by the fire on a chilly autumn night in London.

Corinthia Hotel’s fireplaces burn gasoline and have a remote to adjust the heat to a desirable level.

Other penthouses include The Musician’s Penthouse, which has a Steinway Model O piano. Celebrity musicians and pop singers such as Nicki Minaj are among the frequenters. Its upper-floor master bedroom leads to a terrace of more than 80 square meters with a dining table and benches overlooking the hotel’s courtyard, making it a decent option for outdoor private parties.

Each penthouse comes with daily gifts that vary from chocolates to a pillow spray after the turn-down service.

Teamed up with award-winning ESPA, the hotel has a spa center with 17 treatment rooms, a nail studio, indoor swimming pool, a Daniel Galvin salon, a cafe and more.

The signature personalized treatment blends acupuncture massage with essential oils that the masseur selects based on the body condition of each guest.

As for food, Northall offers a variety of breakfast choices and authentic British flavors. The hotel also has a traditional afternoon tea service. The hotel’s other restaurant, Massimo, headed by star chef Massimo Riccioli, offers a taste of Italy and the Mediterranean area.

Drop by the bar Bassoon to have a gin and tonic, or one of its bespoke cocktails. Britain’s bar culture is well inherited here, and the imaginative bartenders often come up with some drinks related to current issues like the election.

Live musical shows are staged daily in the bar. With a bit of luck you may catch a big name as Lana Del Rey and Kylie Minogue have performed at Bassoon.
