Cruise ship to televise World Cup
THE Sapphire Princess cruise liner that has just sailed on its maiden voyage from Shanghai will broadcast 64 World Cup games on its open air screen between June 13 and July 14, the cruise liner company announced. The games will be broadcast on its 300 square meter screen on the top floor of the 115,000-ton vessel. Some 70,000 passengers, mostly Chinese, will take a cruise to South Korea and Japan in the next four months, said Jan Swartz, president of the Sapphire Princess. The ship made Wusongkou its home port in May. Asia’s heaviest cruise ship is the 138,000-ton Mariner of The Seas, owned by Royal Caribbean International. Its home port is also Wusongkou.
