Gorgeous views await at Huangshan

If you ask a Chinese for the best scenery in China, he or she is quite likely to say Huangshan. The mountainous area in Anhui Province features magnificent views that have amazed countless people for thousands of years.

To this day, it remains one of the most important mountains in the country.

The views on Huangshan are like nothing else. It looks like a series of skyscrapers made of rock jutting out of the ground.

The yellowish rock color combines with the scale of the mountain to enhance the surreal beauty. Foggy days are especially incredible as the peaks poke through the mist.

The area is also famous for its pine trees as they grow from the seemingly most impossible places and form inspiring shapes.

Famous sights on the mountain include Yingkesong, or Welcoming Pine, and Songkesong, or Farewell Pine. They are on opposite sides of the mountain. They earned their names because one looks as though it’s greeting tourists while the other appears to be waving goodbye.

Other famous sights include Jiyubei, or Crucian Carp’s Back, which is a scary route on top of a hill, and Yixiantian, or A Line of Sky. Yixiantian is a path along the gap between two mountains. Tourists on the path can only see the sky through a thin line between the hills.

Also note the numerous rocks that have strange shapes and resemble characters in Chinese mythology.

Huangshan’s scenic views and natural environment create a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Find a spot near a hill cliff under a pine tree and relax your mind.

Forget your worries and gaze at the scenery. The temptation to take a name will be strong.

Although Huangshan is a developed destination, food and water are scarce on the mountain. Be sure to bring some snacks and water if you plan to spend a morning or afternoon on the mountain.

She County is a nearby scenic area that features one of the country’s best-preserved ancient towns. It is well worth a visit.
