Historic bridge reconstructed
AN old covered bridge that was demolished 35 years ago has been reconstructed and relocated to a village in Yinjiang Town, Yinzhou District, Ningbo.
The original Dade Bridge was first built in the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-970) and turned into a wooden covered bridge in the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 960-1127). It is the first wooden bridge of its kind in Zhejiang Province.
The bridge was 500 meters down the Tuoshan Dam in Yinjiang Town. It was removed to make way for a wider cement bridge. A year ago, nostalgic people in Yinjiang started to raise funds to build a replica. The new bridge named Yinjiang Bridge was unveiled this month.
