Museum of Six Dynasties opens
NANJING’S Museum of the Six Dynasties, which opened Monday, is the most comprehensive relic museum of the Six Dynasties (AD420-589) in China, with an abundant collection of national treasures to display history and culture.
From the 3rd through 6th centuries AD, Nanjing was the capital of the so-called Six Dynasties. At that time, Nanjing was the only city in the world with a population exceeding 1 million and was known as two centers of global classic culture, together with ancient Rome. Exhibits include china wares, pottery figurines, paintings and calligraphy, wood carvings and statues. A relic of the ancient city wall is also displayed.
