Strumming away
A guqin, a plucked, seven-string zither instrument, appreciation club has opened in Zhouzhuang water town in neighboring Jiangsu Province.
The club stages free performances on Hougang Street on the third Sunday of each month, local tourism authorities said.
People can sip tea amid and listen to the beautiful tunes. Nanhu Qiuyue Garden is the place to go for guzheng, or Chinese zither, performances.
In ancient times, mastering the guqin was one of the four necessary accomplishments to be a refined man. The guzheng is also a traditional Chinese instrument.
