Four to six times per year

Normally I prefer travel by airplane. However, I’ve found that in China the high-speed train is also a good choice.
What do you do after a journey?
I always look at pictures I’ve taken during the trip. I like to take pictures of good initiatives and ideas which can apply to my own hotels.
How many destinations have you already been to?
Over 25 countries and 50 destinations
What does traveling mean to you in your life?
It has given me a great opportunity to explore different cultures and their people. As the Chinese proverb goes: “Traveling 10 thousand miles is better than reading 10 thousand books.”
Do you prefer to travel alone or with family/friends?
With family
Q: What kind of hotel will you choose to stay at during a trip?
A: Depends whether on business or leisure. Swissotel, Fairmont and Raffles would always be the first choice for me.
Q: What do you value most when choosing a hotel?
A: Besides friendly staff, hotel cleanliness, great beds and super breakfast, these little details always give me a good impression.
Q: What facility or service do you think is necessary during a hotel stay?
A: For me are smooth Wi-Fi connection and a gym.
Q: What do you expect most of a hotel for an enjoyable stay?
A: Genuine, friendly and efficient staff who make sure the basics are well executed, and who deal with matters promptly and in a professional way.
Q: What do you usually do in a hotel during your stay apart from resting in your room?
A: I usually check out the restaurants and bars and also make sure to pay a visit to the gym.
Q: How do you book a hotel with an affordable room rate?
A: Normally I contact the hotel GM directly as an industry colleague, we usually help each other out.
Q: Share with us an unforgettable stay in a hotel.
A: I have recently returned from Fairmont Mayakoba, Mexico where I attended a conference. It has by far the most fantastic staff I have ever come across in any resort destination. They were amazingly friendly and service minded and everything seemed to work like a Swiss clock.
Q: What hotels are you looking forward to staying at in the future?
A: I am looking forward to taking my family to Fairmont Sanur in Bali. It’s a world-class all-suite-and-villa luxury resort set amidst four hectares of lush tropical gardens.
