1 dead, 2 injured after gas station stabbing spree

A STABBING spree left a gas station attendant dead and two of his colleagues wounded yesterday morning in Minhang District, according to the authorities.

Police captured a suspect surnamed Mou, who also works at the gas station. The investigation was continuing and no motive was given for the attack.

The gas station is in Yonglian Village, Meilong Town.

Police did not comment on the case.

Meanwhile, four innocent people were injured in a street fight after a dispute in a restaurant on Xinbei Road in Minhang yesterday.

The injured were all in stable condition in hospital yesterday and the case was still being investigated by district police.

The incident was reported about 2am in the restaurant, said Zhang, who is a chef in the restaurant and was injured in the fight.

Several customers, who had been drinking and spoke with a northern accent, were dining in the restaurant but soon started a conflict and one of them called for "backup," Zhang said.

Several minutes later, seven people with knives entered the restaurant and started the fight, which soon spread onto Xinbei Road.

A security guard from a nearby residential area and a young couple were also injured in the fight.

The couple was dining at the restaurant and witnesses said that the husband was chopped in the buttocks while trying to protect his wife.
