MORE than 5,000 bottles of expired medicines and remedies were confiscated in Qingpu District and 12 suspects detained on July 4 in a criminal investigation for producing and selling false and expired products, Shanghai Evening Post said today.
Police said Shanghai Geerte Health Food Co Ltd in Zhaoxiang Town in Qingpu District produced and sold fake health-care products and repackaged expired products by changing production dates and reselling the products.
The value of the confiscated products had they been sold was more than 500,000 yuan (US$80,645.16), police said.
