2 killed, 3 injured when car smashes into pier

TWO people died and three were injured early this morning when a car hit a minivan, lost control and smashed into an overpass pier in Pudong New Area, local police said.
The incident happened at 0:49am on Huaxia Road E. near Sunhong Road when the car scraped the minivan driving in the same direction. The car driver then lost control and crashed into the pier of an overpass.
Two people in the car died on the spot. Three other passengers in the car were wounded and rushed to the hospital. Their conditions were still unclear.
Police said they were investigating the cause of the deadly crash.
