3 workers drowned in sewer pipe in Songjiang

THREE workers were found dead this morning in a sewer pipe in Songjiang District.
Authorities said the three workers, all in their 30s and from Henan Province, went down into the sewer to drain water but got drowned in the pipe that is one meter in diameter.
The tragedy happened around 6am in a construction site at 1699 Maixin Road in Xinqiao Town of Songjiang District.
Town officials said the three workers probably violated the safety rules and failed to escape in time.
The cause of their drowning is still under investigation.
