300 Proposals Submitted On Day One

THE city's top advisory body opened its annual plenary session yesterday. About 300 proposals on the city's economic, cultural and social development were submitted by its members on the first day.
Until Friday, members of the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference will offer analysis, suggestions or criticism regarding the government's work in fields ranging from education, transport and sanitation to urban planning.
The Shanghai People's Congress, or the local legislative body, starts its annual session today. The two sessions are the most important political events in the city.
