35 scalpers nabbed for selling fake F1 tickets
THIRTY-FIVE ticket scalpers were detained by police for selling fake passes and tickets for the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix over the weekend.
Jiading District police said they found the scalpers were using the opportunity to sell fake passes and tickets and reminded people of the risk through their official microblog on weibo.com.
The 35 scalpers allegedly sold more than 1,000 fake passes and tickets and eight of them should face criminal punishment, police said.
Juss Event, the local organizer of the F1 Chinese Grand Prix, said ticket sales were encouraging this year as the number of spectators increased 60 percent over last year to 163,700. The organizer attributed the jump in attendance to lower ticket prices, about 20 percent less than those in previous years.
