400 city offices have microblogs

MORE than 400 Shanghai government offices and institutions have opened their official microblog accounts to publicize issues and communicate with more than 11 million followers, the Shanghai Municipal Government information office said yesterday.
More than 800 microblog accounts have been opened by municipal departments, including those of the city government, the Public Security Bureau, Shanghai Commercial and Industrial Administration and district governments.
"The microblog accounts have been working effectively ... covering issues from public security, transport, and tourism to environmental protection, civil affairs and education," the office said.
Shanghaicity, the city government microblog account, has attracted more than 2.1 million followers since its launch on November 28.
