5 sailors rescued after ship sinks at Yantze mouth
SHANGHAI Rescue Task Force said today that five sailors have been saved from their ship that was flooded at the mouth of Yangtze River yesterday night.
The ship, which carried 700 to 800 tons of coal dust, sank neaby city's Hengsha Island yesterday.
So far no fuel leak has been detected, said city maritime administration.
The rescue team was first alerted about 7:20pm yesterday of the incident two nautical miles north of the Changxing Island.
The five crew members onboard were saved and taken to maritime ships within an hour, said the rescue team.
The salvage work is still ongoing, said officials.
