65 suspects caught in city's biggest police raid this decade
SHANGHAI police seized 65 people in a raid on a suspected home-burglary ring this morning in Minhang District.
It was the largest police raid this decade with 658 officers participating, Xinmin Evening News reported. Sniffer dogs and 17 police trucks were used in the raid.
Officers seized more than 20 laptops as well as cars, mobile phones and ATM cards, the report said.
The ring used a commercial-residential quarters on Yindu Road as its base of operations. It committed more than 100 burglaries across the city in districts like Minhang, Xuhui, Baoshan and Hongkou, police told the Website.
The ring came to light when Hongkou police were investigating other burglary cases. The ring mainly focused on six-story buildings, entering homes by climbing over walls and through windows, the report said.
