Abandoned baby twins found dead in a bag

NEWBORN twins were found dead at the gate of a textile market in Changning District on Wednesday afternoon, police said yesterday.
The babies were found lying in a yellow plastic bag alongside the curb of Beiyu Road about 1:30pm, said a witness surnamed Dai.
"The parents must be very cold blooded," said Dai.
The umbilical cords were still attached, Dai added.
Paramedics arrived at the scene together with the police and the infants were taken away to a local funeral parlor, police said.
Police did not disclose the babies' gender and are trying to find the parents.
Residents living nearby said the babies were possibly thrown away by their parents after an abortion at an illegal clinic.
Many migrant workers live in the area and have insufficient medical care, they said.
Lawyers said the parents may be charged with murder if the abandonment resulted in the babies' deaths.
