Ad board falls in mall, man hurt

A MAN was injured after he was hit by a large piece of advertisement board made of steel and wood that fell inside a downtown shopping mall yesterday.

The 26-year-old man, surnamed Sun, had a broken leg and was treated in a local hospital. Sun said his leg was struck by the falling board as he left a restaurant about 2:30pm.

The board, about 40 meters in length and 1.5 meters in width, fell from two stores at the underground second-floor at the Cloud Nine Shopping Mall in Changning District. The cause of the incident is under investigation, according to the mall.

Half of the second-floor underground was condoned off and off-limits to customers afterward.

A security staffer with the mall said the area will be closed temporarily until work is completed.

The stores from which the board fell were closed for renovation and no one was in the stores at the time.
