Alibaba teams up with Shanghai film festival
Shanghai International Film Festival and Alibaba Group announced a three-year strategic partnership at China Art Museum in Shanghai yesterday.
The two sides will set up a platform that integrates support for newcomers, services and innovation.
Alibaba Yulebao will become the festival’s official interactive entertainment partner and Taobao Dianying (dianying.taobao.com) will serve as its official ticketing platform.
In recent years, Internet magnates have invested in the film industry. The integration of the two industries implies new consumption patterns are forming in the mobile Internet era.
"We will assist newcomers in the film and television industries, support interaction with film enthusiasts and explore the future of the industry," said Ding Li, a Shanghai International Film Festival official.
Yulebao is the world’s largest C2B (customer to business) film investment platform. In 2014, a million film enthusiasts invested a combined 330 million yuan (US$53 million) through Yulebao in 12 entertainment projects, including films and variety shows.
