Amber craft on display
An amber exhibition opened yesterday at the Jade Buddha Temple, along with a showcase of China’s traditional jewelry making skills.
More than a dozen amber Buddhist prayer beads are displayed on the second floor of the Juequn building at the temple on Anyuan Road in Putuo District until next Wednesday. The temple launched the exhibition to celebrate the Chongyang Festival yesterday, a day to cherish seniors. The artworks were assembled from collectors around the country. Many of the exhibits are being displayed to the public for the first time. Senior craftsmen from Shanghai Laofengxiang Co, a Huangpu-based century-old jeweler, are also showcasing traditional amber processing and jewelry weaving skills at the exhibition.
