Anxin floors tested safe in formaldehyde emission

WOODEN floors made by a Shanghai company that is a major supplier of up to 10 real estate developers have been tested to contain a safe level of cancer-causing formaldehyde, Shanghai quality inspector said today.

The Shanghai Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision tested 24 kinds of wooden floors under Anxin brand in the warehouse of A&W (Shanghai) Woods Co Ltd after reports that formaldehyde emission from Anxi floors was five times higher than China's safety level.

The bureau inspectors found branding and measurement problems in three of the tested floors, but formaldehyde emission of all the 24 products met the national standard, they said.

Besides the warehouse samples, the inspectors also took samples of Anxin floors in four residential complexes developed by Vanke, China's leading housing developer, and the test result will be released soon, the bureau said.
