Apartments for elderly in hospital compound

THE city’s first elderly residential apartments located in a hospital compound have open at the Shanghai International Medical Center.
The high-end care facility offers nursing and rehabilitation services for elderly people, said the center.
Each elderly person staying in the facility at the private-run hospital in the Pudong International Medical Zone is evaluated to determine an individual program of nursing and other care.
“People living in the elderly care facility can be sent to the hospital immediately if medical assistance is needed, while those needing long-term rehabilitation can be sent to the facility from the hospital,” said Yu Zhiqing, operating president of Shanghai International Medical Center.
Accommodation is 16000 yuan (US$2,580) a month, with care costs extra.
