April festival celebrates fashion and creativity

THE 18th Shanghai International Fashion Festival will open on April 13, featuring the 2012 Autumn/Winter Fashion Week and numerous fashion shows, forums and exhibitions.
China's top designer Simon Wang will unveil his new creations at Shanghai Flower Port in Pudong in a solo show called "Flower Queen" from April 14 to 20, which coincides with a tulip display in the Flower Port.
The 2012 Autumn/Winter Fashion Week from April 11 to 17 will present new designs of about 40 brands in Xintiandi and 800 Show Creative Factory, both important fashion venues in downtown Shanghai.
Top brands from France and UK as well as talented mainland and Hong Kong designers will parade their works in fashion shows. The festival also includes a two-day "Italian Fashion in Shanghai" event.
Mode Shanghai 2012 is an exhibition that gathers more than 300 fashion makers from 13 countries. It is a platform for brand marketing and international trade.
Shanghai Donghua University, renowned for its fashion design department, has hosted the International Fashion Forum since 1996. The theme for this year's forum on April 20 is "Creativity builds a fashion city."
