Arena fire does not stop concert
SHANGHAI Mercedes-Benz Arena officials said yesterday a small fire in Hong Kong pop singer Hacken Lee's concert on Saturday was caused by some bad wiring.
More than 100 audience members were evacuated after the incident first detected about 9:50pm when a smoky smell was reported on the fifth floor.
No one was injured. Sparks were found in a corridor and the fire was put out in minutes.
Lee was performing at the time. Audience members were relocated to the second floor and the concert was not affected.
The problem was traced to temporary wiring linked to a concert light set constructed by the stage-building company, officials said.
There was no additional damage.
