At least 5 dead, 43 injured in bus crash
AT least five people were killed and 43 injured this afternoon, including eight seriously, as a bus crashed into a car and plunged off a ramp on Shanghai's A2 Expressway.
Four were declared dead on the scene while 33 injured people were sent to Nanhui Central Hospital for treatment and another 11 were sent to Fengcheng Hospital for treatment, Xinmin.cn reported.
The report cited Pudong Medical Bureau as saying it had sent 10 ambulances to join the rescue while Fengxian District emergency medical center sent six ambulances.
One of the injured treated at the Nanhui hospital died later and four others are still in serious condition.
Police said rescue work is underway and they are still counting the exact casualties.
A witness told Xinmin.cn that about 40 to 50 passengers were aboard the bus when it crashed around 12:40pm. Many had been thrown out of the bus by the impact and covered in the vehicle.
The bus was heading in the direction of Luchao Port.
