THE O'Connor family from Brisbane arrives in Shanghai today, kicking off a five-day tour as part of the Shanghai-Queensland Family Exchange Program, part of World Expo celebration activities.
The family was selected from 5,000 participants in a lucky draw, while a Shanghai family won from 2,000 participants in the campaign's online competition.
Sue-Ellen O'Connor, the mother of a 10-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son, said the family was looking forward to going to the Expo, enjoying a night tour by the Huangpu River, visiting pandas at the zoo and tasting genuine Chinese food.
"It is the first overseas trip for our family. Every one in my office is jealous,'' O'Connor said. "Everything in the city will be of interest to us."
The Shanghai family, surnamed Jiang, is a couple with a four-year-old son. They will visit Brisbane and the Gold Coast in October. The O'Connor family will help them learn about Queensland during their stay in Shanghai.
