BBC, local media group to co-produce 'Earth' documentary and theater adaption of 'Sherlock'

British Broadcasting Corporation and Shanghai Media Group will collaborate on a new documentary film about an amazing day on earth and a theater adaptation of the suspense series "Sherlock," officials announced today at the SMG Innovations Sino-UK Summit Forum.
The co-produced documentary film, a sequel to the critically acclaimed BBC nature documentary production "Earth" will be released in 2017.
The film will center on an amazing day for the millions of lives on earth. It is also a new effort of both British and Chinese film makers in the China-UK Year of Cultural Exchange to explore a new mode of production and present films catering to a global audience.
Meanwhile, officials said that the theater adaptation of the suspense series "Sherlock" will be staged next year.
The TV series' original cast will be starred in the 90-minute drama and the plot will be a transition between the series' third and fourth seasons.
The drama is expected to be a hit in China in terms of the series' large Chinese fan base.
