Back wages paid
A 50-YEAR-OLD Australian Chinese businessman was forced to return nearly 180,000 yuan (US$29,304) in back wages to his employees after a local court restricted him from leaving the country. The man, surnamed Zhang, runs a furniture export company in the city's suburban Qingpu District. He expanded the company so quickly that he did not have enough cash to pay the employees. In January, Zhang was sued by eight of his employees and was ordered to return 179,800 yuan in wages.
