AN unclaimed black bag sparked a security alert at Shanghai Railway Station's south square in the early hours of today.
Police cordoned off the area before opening the bag at 1:30am, which contained everyday articles and represented no threat.
Shanghai beefed up security checks from yesterday as the city enacted tightened regulations on safety at expressway toll stations, railways, airports and long-distance bus stations ahead of World Expo, which opens next month.
