Baosteel begins transporting steel for Milan Expo pavilion

Baosteel Group Corp today began transporting hundreds of tons of steel to Milan in Italy to construct the China Corporate United Pavilion for World Expo 2015.

A ship with 30 tons of steel departed from Shanghai’s Yangshan Deep Water Port today and will arrive in a month in Genoa, Italy. A total of 500 tons of steel will be transported to the Expo site to build the pavilion.

“The steel has to be cut to be able to put into cargo containers while no soldering is allowed due to the eco-friendly vision of the World Expo,” said He Chao, head of public relations for Baosteel.

The China Corporate United Pavilion will feature the theme of seeds. It will include a spiral structure inside to simulate the shape of a growing seed.

Several state-owned enterprises like Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China and Baosteel have confirmed they will participate in the pavilion.
