Bare-foot drunk driver told to hand herself in

A young woman in Shanghai was asked to hand herself to police after she bragged of driving a car without shoes and in a drunken state on Weibo microblog, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.

The woman, identified as "Daisy the Otaku," tweeted on February 3 that she just drove from downtown Huaihai Road to a restaurant in Pudong. "It was so exciting! Drunk driving without shoes! I arrived here safely," she said.

She also posted a photo of her flashing a V-sign. "Am I great?" read the caption.

Her post didn't draw much attention until Tuesday night and was retweeted many times, soon ranking among the top five topics on Weibo. Shanghai police got alerted as well.

Yesterday, the police sent a Weibo message to the woman, ordering her to go to a police bureau as soon as possible to accept punishment. The woman deleted her Weibo account soon after.

In a similar case in Guangdong Province, a woman died in a car accident in early November soon after tweeting that she felt drunk behind the wheel.
