Big taxi firms are big offenders
THE city's five leading taxi companies were found involved in nearly 100 illegal operations, almost one-fifth of the total 508 taxi infractions from 56 companies recorded by authorities in December.
Shanghai's traffic law enforcement team, the industry watchdog, said yesterday that Qiangsheng Taxi Co topped the five, both in numbers and rate, with 27 cabs out of its 6,953 found overcharging, using tampered meters and taking long routes.
