Bodies of twin baby boys found at abandoned house

THE deaths of twin infant boys abandoned in the ruins of a house in Dachang area are being investigated by Baoshan District police.

An elderly rubbish collector found the boys' bodies about a week ago, but she said she was scared and did not call the police. Local residents learned yesterday what she had found and called police.

While the woman was so scared that she fled before determining whether the infants were dead or alive, police said they were dead when they found them. The 80-year-old woman was picking up recyclable wastes in the ruins when she saw a plastic bag with a black knit sweater inside, residents said. When she pulled the sweater out, two tiny bodies fell out.

"The infants look beautiful," one resident said.

The residents said the twin babies did not look they were born with deformities and they had no idea why apparently healthy infants would be abandoned.

Local residents said they didn't heard the crying of infants as their doors and windows were closed due to the cold weather.

The house where the infants were found was cordoned off.
