Bomb alert in city landmark
ONE of the city's tallest building, the Jin Mao Tower, was partly evacuated yesterday after a man on its top floor claimed he had a bomb.
He was detained by police and no incendiaries were discovered in his backpack. Shanghai police said the 23-year-old man, who was not named, was "depressed" and "looking for trouble." He was taken away for questioning. The drama began about 3:40pm when the man on the 88th observatory floor of the 420.5-meter building claimed that he was carrying a bomb, witnesses said. Visitors and staff on the floor were evacuated as police cordoned off the building. Shortly after 5pm, the man was led away.
